This 4.2 mile hike (8.5  round trip) to our outlook destination was another very strenuous full day hike. The trailhead is 14.5 miles from Brevard (see directions below).  As in the Shining Rock hike, a very special thanks are in order for our trail guide Woody as well as our host Eddie, who facilitated almost everything over the weekend.  To view pictures, click on the camera icons along the trail. I have not at this time been able to verify that the shelter along this trail is the Avery Creek shelter, but the pictures are of the shelter we encountered along the trail.  Some of the picture icons along the trail are only approximate locations on the trail.

Directions: The trailhead begins about a half mile down a National Forest Road (NFR) just off US-276, 14.3 miles from Brevard, NC.  Depart Brevard on US-64 for 3.3 miles . Turn left to stay on US-276 and travel 11.0 miles. The trailhead coordinates are N35 20.571 W82 46.806.
