Continuing on Black Mtn Trail Heading Toward The Shelter
limited lookout providing a good place to rest, needed especially by
the one obviously exhausted hiker (my buddy Joe). There were a
places where white mushroom-like fungi growing on trees provided
contrast to the lush green
surroundings. Per my limited research, a few mushrooms that grow on
bark are edible, but most are not. Bark mushrooms most often grow in
cool, rainy coastal areas and on the shady, north side of trees.
Someone got creative with a chainsaw, which made for a good resting point on the way back.
